6 weeks: First Prenatal Checkup

So, today went for my first prenatal check-up with my fiancé's company at Dr Dolly Wee clinic, Mt.E.

Didn't know that I have to come with full bladder, hence needed to do the scan via vagina.

So here is the photo of the scan outcome:



Was quite excited/relieved to see the baby finally :D

During the scan:

• Doctor said there is an egg yolk, and baby in in the black hole as shown in photo.
• Baby is currently 6 weeks and 6 days.
• Baby is only 7.7mm
• Managed to hear the heartbeat, which was so cute to hear it. Haha.
• Expected due date is on 6 February 2014.

After the scan:

• Clarified some stuff with doctor such as my Thalassaemia history as I am a carrier.  My fiancé was told to go for the blood test to see if he is also a carrier of Thalassaemia. If he also has Thalassaemia, then our baby has high chance of being a Thalassaemia Major which is bad, as that baby won't be able to live for long(approx. up to 10 years of age). If my fiancé is tested negative, means baby has a 50% chance of getting Thalassaemia Minor from me, which is nothing much of an issue to baby's health and growth.
• Doctor said my ovulation date is late by a week based from my last period. Hence, baby is only 6 weeks 6 days instead of 7 weeks 6 days. Hmm...
• Anyway, doctor said that upon hearing baby's heartbeat, means only 5% chance of getting miscarriage :) Was quite relieved upon hearing this :D
• However, doctor also warned me to not take any caffeine stuff such as, coffee, tea, coke, chocolate, etc, as it will increase the risk of being miscarriage! So I got to stop all these!! Was still drinking coke and eating chocolate all these while :/
• Doctor also said I can still go/recommended for some simple exercise which is good for baby.
• Doctor also said the expected weight gain for me is 1kg a month :0 (Currently:48kg)
• Was prescribed with folic acid 5mg and Bcomplex.

So ya. That's about it.

Dr Dolly Wee

Today, finally fixed an prenatal appointment with Dr Dolly Wee from Mount E. 

Will be seeing her for the first time on 19 June 2013 at 11am :D

Dr Dolly Wee is highly recommended by two elder sisters of my fiancé. His first elder sister has two sons and was delivered by Dr Dolly Wee. Subsequently, his first elder sister recommended to the second sister, who then had three daughters delivered by Dr Dolly Wee too!

Currently, the second sister is expecting with her fourth and is still seeing Dr Dolly Wee~ 

Wow!! She must be good! However, heard that her charges are not cheap and only accept cash payment.

Nonetheless, Can't wait for my first appointment with Dr Dolly Wee! :P

Paranoid Pregnancy

It's been only 3 days since I tested positive for my pregnancy and I'm getting really paranoid about pregnancy stuff.

These days, I began feeling cramps in my tummy(something like menses cramps) especially around evening time.. I read up on pregnancy forums and see that it might be due to ectopic pregnancy, and it freak me out! Then I feel tension on my shoulder, and researched about it and it was ruled out to be one of ectopic pregnancy symptoms..

However, it is also said that cramps on tummy in early pregnancy is common since uterus is expanding to accommodate the growing baby..

I have also been going toilet frequently to check if I have any spotting(which could be sign of miscarriage). Which I do not have luckily~

Arghhh... Really feeling so paranoid.......!!!!!! :((

Really cannot. I must be happier and stop thinking of negative stuff~

Positive Pregnancy Test

Hello all,

This is my first blog post and I will be sharing my journey of becoming a first time mummy with all of you here. :)

Anyway, on the 31th May, my little sister told me that she dreamt that I was pregnant! I was like OMG because last week, I also dreamt that I was pregnant with two positive pregnancy test!

Since I was also 6 days late, later in the day I quickly when to Waston's Pharmacy to buy their home-brand pregnancy test kit. Then I rushed to a public toilet and quickly did a test. Within seconds results was generated... I saw a dark distinct line immediately at the control zone and no sight of another line at the test zone.

I was disheartened.

In my heart, I thought to myself that it's the same negative results that I get like before AGAIN!!(I was trying to conceive since last year). :(

However, when I was about to leave the toilet cubicle(by then about 3 mins later), I take a look at the test kit and saw another super faint line at the test zone. I thought my eyes were playing a trick on me. I look at it closely again and the line became much darker!

I was totally breathless, and I feel like jumping around in joy although I cannot be 100% sure that I'm pregnant because of the faint line. I quickly texted my fiancé that I might be pregnant and he was excited about it too and wanted me to take a picture of the result and send to him~

Anyway, here is the photo..



Subsequently in the day, to re-confirm, I took another test and also had a dark and faint line too...

So, my fiancé and I decided that we should test again two days later..

And today(2 days later), I tested in the morning at about 9am since HCG is the highest. I used Clearblue's digital test kit. This test kit is pretty cool. If you are pregnant it will show "pregnant" with estimated number of weeks ago you conceived instead of the usual double line.

And here is my result....

It showed that I am pregnant and conceived 2-3weeks ago. And based on my last menses, I should be 5 weeks pregnant by now :))

Will be seeing a gynae in 1-2 weeks time..

So ya... That's about how I found out I'm pregnant~ :D
